Lovrijenac
Lovrijenac is a freestanding fort in the part of the city known as Pile. It is erected on top of a 37-meter high cliff, and is named after St. Lawrence. The fort comprised buildings for captains and offices for nuns of the third order (so-called picukare). Above the entrance doors there was an engraving which read Non bene pro toto libertas venditur auro (Freedom is not sold for all the gold in the world). Today Fort Lovrijenac is a well-known stage for world class theatre productions.
